Happy Birthday to Me!
I had a fantastic birthday. Opened pressies - a beautiful silver & shell bracelet from Andy and the kids, and a lovely beaded bracelet from Claire and Peter. Pressies not expected while backpacking but very appreciated.
We had breakfast and then attempted to snorkel out to the small island off the resort. Normally it would be possible but there was a bit of a chop in the water and I didn’t want to take the kids so far under those conditions. Instead we just snorkelled along the front and had a great time.
Lunch was pizza by the pool and we spent the afternoon doing absolutely nothing - by my decree! It rained eventually (shame it’s not clearing the haze, but we’ve become used to it) and we went back to our room and read or watched TV until dinner.
We then ate at the buffet and Andy had organised a birthday cake for me - including the band serenading us - he told me he didn’t organise that!
All together it was very uneventful, and very very lazy. The day zoomed by with it’s nothingness and I was very blissed out.

Hi Sarah,
Wow, I checked last night and since then about 3 new messages from you have appeared!!
Lovely to read that you enjoyed your birthday (if you go back a few posts from yourself you’ll find birthday messages!) and had a day to chill out. I’m glad you like the bracelet, I thought it was very “you”. The one the family gave you sounds lovely too.
Sounds like you’re meeting some interesting people on your travels.
I can imagine how mad you were about the building at the hotel! Very, very annoying to say the least.
Pleased your foot is healing. Gentamycin is a good strong antibiotic and if its working on the cut on your foot thats great, but like a lot of older a/bs it is bacteria type specific rather than broad spectrum (covering all sorts of bugs)… so without a swab being grown you cant know if the bugs are the ones it works on… the Irish nurse was right it is used a lot in hospitals but less so in general use beause then you usually get broad spectrum drugs. A local pharmacist would know what the usual bugs are that get into feet after this kind of injury so I’m sure you’ve got the right thing!
We went to the America’s Cup site at Valencia port this morning, its great already and the event is a year away. I’ll send photos on an email and hope you can get them. We’re having a lovely time, just about to have my siesta by the pool, BBQ later on, lovely and relaxing.
Lots of love to Andy and the smalls with big kisses XXX

Thanks for all the messages Claire - I love getting them.
As for the rapid updates - I tend to do them in batches as the cybercafes are slow and not always handy.
Have just added batik photos over here:

Hey Sarah
just letting you know have been keeping an eye on your site but have to admit your writing is too predigious to keep up.
Youll just have to recount it all when you get home.
Needless to say were jealous as hell.
Love to all P&J
ps Sounds fantastic

Hi Sarah and all
love the batik photos, very colourful! Great mementos for the kids to have something they made.
Life seems very dull by comparison now we are back in grey, damp cold old London. I thought of you and the hotel building noise as the night we were home a car alarm went off and on all night outside our house grr grr grr.
We went to the Maple Leaf Ball (for Canadian Thanksgiving) last night and that was good fun, I’ve sent you photos but you probably wont get them until you get home… so my natural inclinations are to blob all day but Peter is dead keen to play tennis so we will foray out later on for that. At least its dry today.
No other news from here, looking foward to the next news from all of you!
lots of love
Claire & Peter xxx
